BA Political Science and International Affairs - TUG

In addition to the Gardner-Webb University General Education requirements, the student must complete a minimum of 34 hours of political science courses. Students are also encouraged to pursue a minor, double minor or second major.

Political Science majors must earn credit for:

-twelve hours in the four required courses (POLS 201, POLS 210, POLS 302 and POLS 490)

-a six hour concentration in one of the four sub-fields:  American Politics, Political Theory, International Relations, Comparative Politics

-sixteen hours from any 300-400 level course in POLS, HIST, or SOCI. Up to six hours of PREX 402:  Study Abroad credits may be utilized towards meeting the elective requirement.  POLS 202:  Adventures in Politics or POLS 380:  Model UN are one hour courses that will enable a student to complete the sixteenth hour in this requirement. 

An internship in the field (POLS 497, POLS 498) is highly recommended. 

This degree plan is an example of student progression through the program. Academic departments reserve the right to alter the term in which a course is offered.
