PADM 650 Public Policy Analysis & Evaluation

This course builds upon the discipline of public administration and provides the students with an understanding of the elements of public policymaking, focusing primarily on the techniques for analyzing policy alternatives at each stage of development including the evaluation of the implementation processes and program outcomes. The focus on political and administrative problems associated with program evaluation will be presented by utilizing field research techniques to examine and assess public programs. An examination of availability and appropriateness of various quantitative methodologies will be discussed. Seminar concepts are applied through evaluative projects conducted for public agencies. Methods include problem solving, decision making, and case studies. A research paper/project is required.
