THEA 382 Theatre History and Literature II

A survey of the history of the theatre and dramatic literature in Europe and America beginning with Renaissance Europe, and continuing through the middle of the nineteenth century. The objective of the course is to provide the student with a broad-based knowledge of the traditions, personalities, literature, architectural features, and theatrical technology found in the history of Western theatre and to show how these elements interact with the political, social, economic, and religious forces of their respective periods.
