NUR 339 Pharmacology in Nursing Practice

This introductory course utilizes basic mathematics as a foundation for medication dosage calculations. Basic and advanced medication calculations, including intravenous and weight-based dosage calculations will be discussed. Drug classifications, indications, physiological actions, contraindications, desired and adverse effects, routes, and nursing considerations will be included. Emphasis is placed on the nurse's responsibility in drug administration and assessment of the client's response to drug therapy. Class hours: 2; Clinical hours: 0; Semester hours: 2.
