WLLC WLLC 309 Heroes Across Culture
Heroes transcend cultures across the globe and manifest themselves in many different ways. Using Joseph Campbell's basic paradigms, we will explore heroes in the USA and other cultures around the world, explaining our own personal heroic journeys and also how other cultures see heroes from their own point of view. We will gain a better understanding of what we admire and what other cultures admire as we read and view heroic stories from various world cultures, identifying similarities and differences. No prerequisites are required for this class. Any student may take this class. Language of instruction: English. Small group discussions will be in the student's area of language study in WLLC if there are two or more in the discipline.
