EDUC 450 Student Teaching
EDUC 450 is a 16-week period of full-time supervised teaching at the appropriate level. The Student Teaching Handbook will provide the guidelines for this course. This course meets the Professional Readiness Experience graduation requirement.
Prerequisites: EDU/C 250 with grade of "C" or better, admission to Teacher Education Program for at least one year prior to student teaching, and all other coursework completed. Application deadlines are announced by the College of Education.
All candidates will also be charged an edTPA Assessment Fee when they enroll in
EDUC 450 and
EDUC 451.
All candidates must pass all state-required licensure examinations (excluding edTPA) before starting their final semester of student teaching (EDUC 450). Candidates who fail to pass all state-required licensure examinations after two attempts before the student teaching semester may seek a waiver from the Dean of the College of Education to student teach.

Notes
All teacher candidates, regardless of the area of licensure, will be charged a non-refundable Clinical Assessment Fee in EDUC 250Teaching in 21st Century Schools. This fee will cover the candidate’s subscription to TaskStream as well as the required background checks and drug screening. In addition, Birth-Kindergarten, Elementary, and Middle Grades candidates are required to have a device with video capabilities for every EDUC course with the exception of EDUC 250Teaching in the 21st Century.
