MPAS 536 Intro to EBM and Public Health
MPAS 536 Introduction to Evidence-Based Medicine and Public Health is an epidemiology, biostatistics, research, and public health 2-credit hour course for the promotion of knowledge, understanding of clinical research, research questions, interpretation of basic biostatistical methods, instruction on data sampling methods, and the use of common databases to access medical literature. This course defines and applies the role of the PA in disease prevention, surveillance, reporting and intervention, public health systems, patient advocacy, and maintenance of population health. Students will be introduced to concepts of scientific and professional writing and communication. This course directly supports the program's mission to develop graduates who practice competent patient-centered primary care with a focus on underserved populations.This course will prepare students for MPAS 636 Underserved Medicine/ Evidence-Based Medicine SCPE and MPAS 651 Capstone courses within the clinical year.
