Pre-Law

Law schools encourage and accept students with a wide variety of majors who have taken well-rounded and rigorous courses of study and who have developed critical thinking, advanced research, analytical thinking, written and oral communication skills. The Pre-Law minor is therefore interdisciplinary and designed to help students develop those skills relevant to the legal field and to prepare them for successful application to law school. Students seeking Pre-law minors are encouraged to participate in the Pre-Law Society, seek leadership in student organizations and to pursue other extracurricular opportunities that will enhance their preparation. An internship in the legal field is not required, but students may find POLS 497/498:  Internship an attractive option if the PRE opportunities in their chosen major are not relevant to the legal field.
