While some English courses may fulfill General Education and major requirements (ENGL 211, ENGL 212, ENGL 231, ENGL 232, ENGL 240, ENGL 251, ENGL 252, and ENGL 270), credit hours for those courses can only be counted toward General Education or the English major. Students who take courses required in the major that also meet a General Ed requirement will need to take additional ENGL hours to fulfill the required 41 program hours. (see General Education Requirements)
Students will complete Senior Exit Interview requirements in the final semester of coursework.

Required Major Hours (17 hours)
All BA in English majors take the following required courses.
Overview (6 hours)
Courses in the Overview category provide a survey or introduction to topics in English studies. Students should complete 6 hours of coursework from the Overview category. No more than 6 hours of 200-level courses can count towards the major.
Literature (6 hours)
Courses in the Literature category are 300-400 level courses, providing more in-depth study of literatures and cultural studies. Select 6 hours of coursework from the Literature category.
Writing (6 hours)
Courses in the Writing category are 300-400 level courses, designed to provide more in-depth study of creative and professional writing genres, modalities, and English language study. Select 6 hours of coursework from the Writing category.
Electives (6 hours)
Select an additional 6 hours of electives from any 300-400 level ENGL courses.
