EDDS 729 Dissertation Seminar

This seminar provides structured support for doctoral candidates who are transitioning from Education Specialist (EdS) coursework into the Doctor of Education (EdD) dissertation phase. Designed specifically for candidates bridging from the EdS to the EdD degree, the seminar supports progression through the early stages of the dissertation process.

Candidates work closely with a dissertation chair and/or coach to develop an understanding of the dissertation process, refine a research topic, and advance a dissertation proposal. Throughout the seminar, candidates focus on developing research questions and drafting and revising key components of the dissertation, including Chapter I (Introduction), Chapter II (Literature Review), and Chapter III (Methodology). Emphasis is placed on guided mentoring, scholarly writing, and the continued development of a coherent and well-aligned dissertation proposal. This seminar is designed to support sustained engagement and progress toward proposal readiness within a single semester.

Equivalent of EDDS 731, 733, 735, 737, 739, and 741.

Prerequisites

Completion of Education Specialist (EdS) coursework at Gardner-Webb University and enrollment as a candidate bridging from the EdS to the EdD program at Gardner-Webb University.
