Online Undergraduate Admission

Gardner-Webb University offers flexible online undergraduate programs designed for students seeking to complete their education in a fully online learning environment. Online undergraduate programs are intended to support working adults, transfer students, and other learners who require flexibility while pursuing a high-quality academic experience grounded in the University’s mission and values.

The University utilizes a rolling admissions process for online undergraduate programs and welcomes applications from students who demonstrate academic readiness, motivation, and the ability to succeed in an online learning environment. Applicants are evaluated through a holistic review process that considers academic achievement, prior college performance, professional experience, and personal goals.

Students may apply for admission at any time throughout the year. The Online Undergraduate Program has start dates that run in an 8-week cycle – 2 in the fall semester, 2 in the spring semester, and 2 in the summer semester.

Application Process

To be considered for admission to an online undergraduate program, applicants must submit a completed application and all required official transcripts from previously attended institutions. Applications may be submitted online through the University’s website.

The student will find the application, forms for requesting transcripts, and additional information on the Gardner-Webb University website at www.gardner-webb.edu.

The admission procedure includes the following steps:

  1. The student will submit the completed application through the online application portal.
  2. The Office of Admissions will review the application once all required transcripts and supporting documents have been received.
  3. The Office of Admissions may request additional information or documentation if necessary to complete the admission review.
  4. The Office of Admissions will notify the applicant of the admission decision and any relevant conditions.
  5. Upon admission to the University, the student must complete all enrollment requirements prior to course registration.

Admission Requirements

Gardner-Webb University maintains general academic guidelines for admission into online undergraduate programs. Admission decisions are based primarily on prior academic performance and the applicant’s readiness to succeed in an online academic environment.

Students may enter the University at the beginning of designated online terms throughout the academic year mentioned above. Admission to the University does not guarantee acceptance into all academic programs, as certain majors may require additional application, prerequisite coursework, or departmental approval.

Applicants who have earned fewer than 25 transferable college credit hours may be required to submit an official high school transcript in addition to official college transcripts.

Re-Admission to GWU

An online undergraduate re-admit student is defined as a student who previously enrolled at Gardner-Webb University and is seeking to return to the University to continue in the same level of academic program.

Students who have not been enrolled for one or more academic terms must apply for re-admission through the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. Students who withdrew from the University in good academic and social standing should submit an application for re-admission along with official transcripts from all colleges or universities attended since their last enrollment at Gardner-Webb University.

Applications for re-admission are reviewed holistically, with consideration given to prior academic performance, any additional coursework completed, and the student’s readiness to resume academic study. The University may consult appropriate campus offices, including the Registrar, Student Financial Planning, and Student Development, in the review process.

Students who were previously dismissed from the University for academic or disciplinary reasons may apply for re-admission after the allotted period of separation defined in their specific case, typically at least one academic term.

Students who are re-admitted following academic or disciplinary dismissal may be required to enroll under probationary status and must comply with all conditions established by the University for continued enrollment.

Re-admission to the University does not guarantee acceptance into specific academic programs, as certain majors may require additional approval or application. Students seeking admission to a different academic program may be required to apply through the standard admission process. All students must meet current University policies and program requirements at the time of re-admission.

Non-Degree Seeking Students

Students may enroll in online undergraduate coursework as non-degree-seeking students for personal enrichment, professional development, or other approved purposes.

Non-degree-seeking students must submit a completed application and any required transcripts as determined by the Office of Admissions.

Non-degree-seeking students are not eligible for institutional scholarships and may have limited eligibility for federal financial aid.

Second Baccalaureate Degree

Students who have previously earned a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution may pursue a second baccalaureate degree through Gardner-Webb University.

Students must complete all requirements for the new major and satisfy any applicable residency and program requirements established by the University.
