Music Education Student Learning Outcomes
Students who graduate with an Emphasis in Music Education will demonstrate:
- the knowledge base of learning, methodologies, social content, and professional development needed to teach in a private or public school setting;
- the ability to perform and utilize musical understanding in the classroom and performance arenas;
- the competencies required to obtain North Carolina teacher licensure for grades K-12 in the fields of general music, instrumental, and vocal music.

Required Education Minor Hours (26 hours)
Professional Education Minor
Students will not be permitted to complete more than 50% of the Professional Education minor (excluding student teaching) until they are formally admitted to the Teacher Education Program. All candidates must be fully admitted into the Teacher Education Program a minimum of two full semesters prior to the semester in which they student teach, ideally no later than the end of the first semester of the junior year. Business and Music Industry Student Learning Outcomes
Students who graduate with an Emphasis in Business and Music Industry will:
- demonstrate basic skills in music technology programs;
- demonstrate a broad knowledge of the music business industry;
- be prepared for positions in the music business industry, including but not limited to arts administration and venue management.
