PSYC 433 Lewis and Freud
This course will explore the writings of two of the most influential thinkers of the 20th century and their philosophical and psychological perspectives. Specific topics covered include Freud’s psychodynamic meta-psychology theory, the wish-fulfillment theory of religion, oceanic experiences, and the psychoanalytic view of God and morality. This course will explore Lewis’ trilemma, and Lewis' counterpoint ideas of God, love, relationships, religion, morality, and suffering. In addition, we will examine Lewis and Freud’s view of human nature and human freedom.
