BADM 812 Foundations for Ethical Reasoning in Business

This course focuses on two aspects of ethical reasoning: the underlying theories and the practical application. Students will be introduced to various ethical theories, including universalism, utilitarianism, divine command theory, egoism, and more. Using these theories, students will prepare a “mini dissertation” exploring ethics in their specific major discipline. In exploring the practical application of ethical reasoning, students will read an assigned text involving a real-world ethical issue, and engage in classroom discussion and analysis of the specific ethical issue(s) reflected in the assigned reading.
