MPAS 506 Medical Physiology
MPAS 506 Medical Physiology utilizes a systems-based approach to communicate fundamental physiologic principles. Students are equipped with essential knowledge of human physiologic functions as they relate to health and disease. Alterations of normal function will be highlighted throughout the course and students will be introduced to common medical laboratory practices used to evaluate changes in the normal health state. To enhance the student's understanding and appreciation of physiology, the Anatomy course is taught concurrently so structure and function are synthesized. Emphasis is on integration of physiology, anatomy, pathophysiology, and pharmacology relevant to medical problems encountered in a primary care setting. Students will have the opportunity to apply their knowledge of physiology through the use of discussion and case studies.
