BKE 290 Child Development
This course covers child development for children birth through age 8. Developmental milestones for cognitive, social-emotional, and physical development will be included. The importance of Developmental Appropriate Practice, play in the early learning environment, and the whole child concept will be examined. Developmental theories and research-based pedagogy will be included. Upon completion, students should be able to identify evidence- based strategies and theories that enhance the development of all children; including various diversities and abilities. Students should also be able to explain how environmental and biological factors impact development and how development follows sequential patterns; recognizing atypical developmental patterns.
